Description

Non sunroof Phase 2 Peugeot 205 1.6 GTI with Registered as 1.6. MOT to April 2017.

The car was converted to a 2.0 16v some years ago, the conversion done by Pug Racing. Unfortunately that engine let go last summer so I have spent those long winter evenings replacing it with another 2.0 16v sourced from a running 306GTI6 with just over 70,000 on the clock. The modifications that have been done do make it a fair bit quicker so the brakes have been upgraded. The suspension has been replaced but it is not lowered or stiffened, this car was my daily drive for quite a few years and I wanted it to be comfortable.

Brand new parts installed Feb 2016 : Water pump, cam belt, tensioner and pulley, alternator/power steering belt and tensioner, battery, radiator (Nissens), spark plugs, gearbox oil, engine oil, coolant / antifreeze, inlet and exhaust manifold gaskets, downpipe to exhaust fittings, drivers side wishbone and anti roll bar link, drivers side outer cv boot.

5 speed BE3 gearbox from Xsara VTS (with 4.43 final drive)
Pug Racing gear linkages
Bilstein B4 suspension front and rear
Front gravel rally springs (to offset heavier cast engine block from the GTI6)

306 GTI6 front brakes
Master cylinder from Peugeot 406
Uprated Baker BM lower engine mount
1.9 GTI hubs and driveshafts
1.9 GTI rear beam with disc brakes

Front fog lights linked to full beam
Fog light covers

Modified 306 GTi6 downpipe
Stainless steel exhaust system

Black full leather seats. These are the best 205 leather seats I have seen (apart from those which have been fully refurbed with new leather!). There are no cracks in the leather. A couple of sewn seams need re-sewing. The usual drivers bolster is softer than the rest but it is still in very good condition. The seat runners are also in very good condition.

Full black interior and dashboard (not grey)

Central locking, one key for doors/fuel/ignition

Engine immobiliser
Kenwood KDC-BT73DAB head unit (with Bluetooth audio link to smartphones, and DAB Radio)
Uprated JBL speakers in doors
Kenwood 12″ subwoofer and amplifier, power and audio wiring for subwoofer
DAB aerial in corner of windscreen
Shorter radio aerial

1.9 GTI Speedline alloys, front tyres have 2-3mm tread, rear tyres are brand new. (SMR 1.9 alloys will not fit over the brake calipers, only Speedlines)

Having had the engine and all running gear off the car, I am confident of the condition of all parts, there are no hidden problems for you to discover later! (as have previously discovered with plenty of previous 205 purchases!)

Bad points:

Given what good condition the shell is in, it is also the cars worst feature. It is a 24 year old car, there are some minor dings and scratches here and there. I’m making it sound bad – it isn’t but it is not immaculate, it has not had a respray.
Passenger door has small hole near lock where someone tried to break in, and the lock itself is un-useable (never been a problem as the central locking works).
Bonnet is a slightly lighter red and has a small dent and paint has come off in a couple of places on the front. I will include another non red bonnet which is in the process of being restored. The bonnet actually looks better than it does in the photos.
Drivers side has been “keyed”, not badly and you don’t really notice it unless you are looking for it.
Small dent on the roof.
Fan only works at full speed (using a discreetly fitted bypass switch).
Boot “spoiler” is missing. (I made the mistake of going on the safari drive at Longleat and the monkeys started eating it, took massive chunks out of it ! It weighs a lot anyway so I wasn’t that sad to see it go).

Please get in touch if you have any questions. I think it is a fair price given the complementary modifications, in fact in the current market I think it is quite reasonable! I work from home so viewings are possible day or evening, week or weekend. It is a nice part of the country to visit so don’t worry that you’re going to drive a long way to see a lemon, I have been totally honest in this description. You will see that both myself (and my neighbour!) are 205 nuts. I love this car and have had great fun with it. I really don’t want to sell it.. but owning three 205′s is probably pushing it a bit and I need to make room in the garage to actually be able to work on the others!
